It's hard to find a clean, affordable, comfortable place to stay in midtown, and the Moderne fit the bill.. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lots of small decorative touches show someone cares. Convenient to Broadway, Rockefeller Center, subway, Central Park, restaurants, etc. We also appreciated that they let us keep our luggage there all day after we checked out and even use the lounge and bathrooms until we took a taxi to the train.
We traveled to New York to see shows, museums, and the normal tourist attractions. This hotel could not be better located for our activities. We were four blocks from Central Park, which was super convenient for exercising in the morning. It was also close enough to walk to for breakfast in the park on our last day. We were also able to walk to the shows and the Met to see an opera.
I cannot say enough good things about the staff. Andy, Melissa and David could not have been more friendly or helpful. The bellmen, Samir and Melvin were equally outstanding going above and beyond what I would expect from a bellman. The rooms were cleaned daily and we found them in great condition.

Immaculate and spacious room; friendly helpful staff; central and convenient location close to Central Park, Broadway and Manhattan Cruise Terminal. Easy subway access at 57th St Stn. Many nearby restaurant options plus 24-hour convenience store for snacks. Everything we needed and wanted at reasonable price.
Pictures say a thousand words but not when searching for a hotel room. This boutique hotel was as described, very clean and service was courteous. Hotel is as pictured, big thank you to Francesca for your service.
Great Boutique Hotel in the best location!
Hotel Staff were lovely. We were able to walk to all the best attractions, galleries, shows, iconic sites. Close to the subway for those attractions further afield. Fab eating places on every corner. Safe and sound!
Surprise Gem in NYC! We were planning a little New York getaway and happened upon this little gem; close to Times Square, Broadway, Rockefeller Plaza, Central Park, and much more. The friendly & smiling staff greeted us like welcomed guests and- shock & awe- we had a huge room!
My husband and I got upgraded to a king suite upon arrival and were able to store our luggage upon check in and check out. The room was clean and comfortable. Despite being street facing and right by the elevator it was incredibly quiet. The bed was comfy and the amenities were plentiful. Francesca facilitated a smooth checkin and was very sweet. Every staff member we encountered was incredibly kind and helpful. Special shout-out to their doorman for always providing recommendations and being just delightful to encounter. Can’t beat the location and the prices are a steal for the area. We’ll definitely be staying here for future trips to NYC!
Had a lovely stay at the Moderne. Were in town to visit with friends from England. Our room was warm, comfortable, very clean. The staff was friendly and efficient. Would definitely stay again!

Staff was super friendly, helpful and definitely made us feel welcome. Anything we needed from the front desk the response was immediate. I would like to thank the front desk for letting me take advantage of the huge mirror in the lobby for my selfie purposes lol
Total Hidden Gem
Check-in was a breeze the staff were just amazing. After we checked in and settled in to 801, we knew we made the right choice. Large king size room with Queen pull-out sofa, Roof-top patio with table and chairs. Ice-cold A/C. This room was a quiet as we could have asked for. We never heard another guest, or any street noise.
Our room was as ice cold as we needed, and the beds and pillows were very, very comfortable. The rain shower in that room is exquisite! We made good use off our bar fridge and safe. You can’t beat the location. Dozens of bars and restaurants within a couple blocks, Columbus Circle, Central Park, Broadway, Times Square, minutes away.
Great hotel: super centrally located, right next to Gastro Market. Great staff, umbrella in the room for use (it was rainy), clean & QUIET rooms! Other guests were polite, the room was deluxe - I love the king sized bed. The shower was HOT!! We were very happy at this hotel and would recommend.
Perfect, quiet location for family of four between Times Square and Central Park.
Friendly, helpful staff. Clean, quiet room with plenty of space for four. Parking next door. Easy check in and out. Great location on quiet street. Cascade for 24-hour coffee. The Original Soup Kitchen five doors down. Will definitely stay again.
Moderne will be our choice when we’re back to NYC. Great staff, amazing location! Couldn’t ask for more anything more. Definitely going to go back to Moderne. Went as a family of 7 including a toddler. Staff were quick to set up the crib and make sure everything was perfect. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Comfy bed and great shower. Moderne Hotel is a gem. The hotel was perfectly located just a few blocks from Times Square / theater district. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, well appointed and the beds were good. The staff were taking care of every need and were very communicative. We would definitely stay here again.
The Moderne is a real find. The midtown location is convenient and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Best of all was the staff. To a person, they were kind, helpful, and genuinely devoted to customer service. At this price, you can’t do better!
We had stayed at the Moderne hotel at the end of February-start of March and had a very enjoyable stay. The rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious - everything you could ask for. The staff were always polite and friendly. The location of the hotel is amazing - we found it very easy to walk/get public transport to all over the city. We would definitely return to the Moderne in the future.
Good price, Great service
This is one of the best experiences I've ever had in NYC. My guest relations manager was one of the best I've even had, his name was Keenan Davis. If you have the opportunity to go to NYC and you can go to this hotel ask for him. He was extremely attentive to all of my needs, if I had any concerns he was always helpful to me. They had some of the most delicious chocolates that was left for me by Keenan with a personal handwritten note. Keenan actually made sure that my stay was extremely pleasurable by making sure that every need I had was satisfied. This also came down to restaurants, I could try, bars in the area and extracurricular activities.
